Who We Are

We are a Christian church, evangelical in faith, seeking to make and to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • The Bible is the inerrant Word of God, revealing our creation, fall, and redemption. (See Chicago Statement)
  • Scripture’s teachings are best summarized in the creeds of the historic Church: the Apostles’ & Nicene Creeds

We are a Reformed church, covenantal in theology and practice.
  • We interpret the Bible the way the Reformers of the 16th century did, especially as laid out in their confessions and catechisms (Westminster, Heidelberg, etc.). We teach and practice paedo-baptism and paedo–communion.
We are a family-affirming church, reinforcing Biblical family authority.
  • We worship together as families, without age-segregated programs or Sunday Schools
  • We affirm Biblical roles of manhood and womanhood (see Danvers statement)

We are a liturgical church, with a participatory worship service and weekly Communion.
We invite all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Head of the Church to worship with us.

Church Leadership

Conrad Doskey

George Altmann

Elder
Deacon Chairman
Conrad Doskey is one of the founding members of Covenant Heritage Reformed Church and its session of elders. He is happily married to his wife of 38 years, with four adult children and twelve grandchildren.
Conrad and his family moved to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with the US Navy and, after leaving military service, spent the next 24 years in various positions at Newport News Shipbuilding. He is now retired and serving the church full time, leading weekly Sunday worship services and teaching various classes throughout the month.
Conrad is a staunch proponent of all things covenantal: covenant theology, covenant baptism, covenant communion, and the covenant of grace. He enjoys reading and playing board games when he has spare time, which is even less frequent now that he is retired. And yes, he knows that every roll of the dice is predestined by our Sovereign Lord (Proverbs 16:33).
George Altmann has been a member of CHRC since 2004 and has served as a Deacon ever since then.

Tim Gowins

Deacon
Tim and his wife Carolyn have been members of Covenant Heritage Reformed Church (CHRC) since the beginning of 2004, approximately one month after its founding. He has served as a Deacon at CHRC for well over 10 years now. He also serves as the Church Treasurer.

Tim retired from the U.S. Navy in 2013 after serving 20 years on active duty. He is the father of four adult children and five (and counting) grandchildren.

The Gowins family has served the church in many capacities in the years since 2004. Often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Seeing to the setup and breakdown of the needs of the services and meetings, as well as the needs of the congregation and others in the community. Tim truly has a servants heart, and yes as Tim Hawkins says, that sometimes means stacking chairs.

Carl Neidengard

Deacon
Carl Neidengard, currently serving as a Deacon of CHRC, has been a member since 2022. He and his wife, Dana, have been married 15 years and have four sons. He also serves on the Budget Committee and the Pastoral Search Committee.

Carl is a supporter of Christian homeschooling, Psalm and Hymn singing, family worship and studying of The Word, servant leadership, and most things spicy.
