Who We Are

We are a Christian church, evangelical in faith, seeking to make and to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • The Bible is the inerrant Word of God, revealing our creation, fall, and redemption. (See Chicago Statement)
  • Scripture’s teachings are best summarized in the creeds of the historic Church: the Apostles’ & Nicene Creeds

We are a Reformed church, covenantal in theology and practice.
  • We interpret the Bible the way the Reformers of the 16th century did, especially as laid out in their confessions and catechisms (Westminster, Heidelberg, etc.). We teach and practice paedo-baptism and paedo–communion.
We are a family-affirming church, reinforcing Biblical family authority.
  • We worship together as families, without age-segregated programs or Sunday Schools
  • We affirm Biblical roles of manhood and womanhood (see Danvers statement)

We are a liturgical church, with a participatory worship service and weekly Communion.
We invite all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Head of the Church to worship with us.

Church Leadership

Jody VanDyke

Pastor Jody came as pastor to CHRC in September of 2020 along with his wife Melia and their two girls. Jody and Melia also have two adult sons.

Jody’s chief desire is to know Christ and the power of His resurrection (Phil. 3:10) and as a result, to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called [him] out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). His passion in ministry is the biblical education of Christians and the building of relationships with others. He feels the church should be a place where people are free to be transparent with one another, free to expose their deepest wounds without fear of rejection. Jody aspires to foster a church environment where we help each other in finding real healing from our individual brokenness by discipling one another towards greater growth in Jesus Christ; each lovingly encouraging the other to live God-centered, kingdom-focused lives as we all labor together towards The Great Commission (Matt. 18:18-20) to the glory of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Glenn Goforth

Shepherding Elder
Glenn Goforth, currently serving as an elder at Covenant Heritage Reformed Church, has been a member since 2005. He is a faithful husband, the father of four adult children, and has five grandchildren. Glenn is dedicated to the preaching of the gospel, the doctrines of the Reformation, singing of the Psalms, and family- integrated worship.

George Altmann

Deacon Chairman
George Altmann has been a member of CHRC since 2004 and has served as a Deacon ever since then.

Tim Gowins

Tim and his wife Carolyn have been members of Covenant Heritage Reformed Church (CHRC) since the beginning of 2004, approximately one month after its founding. He has served as a Deacon at CHRC for well over 10 years now. He currently also serves as the Church Treasurer.

Tim retired from the U.S. Navy in 2013 after serving 20 years on active duty. He is the father of four adult children and four (and counting) grandchildren.

The Gowins family has served the church in many capacities in the years since 2004. Often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Seeing to the setup and breakdown of the needs of the services and meetings, as well as the needs of the congregation and others in the community. Tim truly has a servants heart, and yes that sometimes means stacking chairs (thanks Tim Hawkins).
